When we think of the benefits of exercise, building physical strength and stamina usually comes to mind. But turns out exercise could make you smarter and more capable at your job. That’s because exercise helps us to better handle stress says Psychology Today. In other words, it makes us a little hardier. A Princeton University study found that exercise actually builds new neurons that make us less responsive to stress hormones, so we handle pressure better.
And another study out of Stony Brook University found that sedentary skydivers…yup, I said skydivers, took longer to calm down after diving out of a plane than those who were fit. As well, the sedentary skydivers didn’t perform as well when their cognitive functioning was tested. So if you intend to climb the corporate ladder, you’ll likely higher, faster if you’re physically up for the challenge.
